Designing for Sustainability: The Story Behind Our Recycled Packaging
When I was preparing to open my store in Italy, specializing in nuts and dried fruits, I needed packaging that would be convenient for both online orders and on-the-go customers. I envisioned a bag that was easy to open and reseal, perfect for taking healthy snacks to the gym, outdoor spaces, or picnics. Additionally, in Padova’s humid climate, keeping nuts and dried fruits fresh in a sealed package is crucial.
After exploring various options, we settled on “doy pack” bags. These bags are not only made from recycled materials but are also food-grade and easy to seal, making them an ideal choice for our products.
For the design, I created numerous sketches, aiming to craft something vibrant and visually appealing that also reflected our story and Persian heritage. The main elements I wanted to highlight were Persian gardens, pistachio and almond trees, and us—two young women—along with Persian cats and the beauty of nature.
The final result is a series of three simplified designs, with Persian gardens as the focal point. These designs come in three different sizes: medium blue, large green, and small yellow. We’ve also incorporated a transparent section into the packaging for both visual appeal and customer convenience.
